I spent Christmas at campo Rukapiwel, celebrating with the family. We ate a late dinner on the 24th of December and at 11 pm we hid the presents while young Juanito was searching the forest for Papanoel. When he found the presents, missing Santa only by a few seconds we went inside to seprate them. The game of secret Santa was quite amusing, although I kind of messed up the surprise as it was obvious which presents I wrapped. I got more presents than I expected, everyone being really generous.
The rest of the week we took it rather easy, built stairs to the creek where there is a deep pool to go swimming and cleared some forest nearby to later set up a table and bench for picknicking. This morning on the 29th I left the campo to go trekking during New Year for some quiet time to myself. Celbrating with the family and their friends was fun, but also a bit exhausting for me. Arriving in Osorno I changed my plans of going to Lago Ranco and will instead hed over to Argentina for New Year. There I will do a few treks and camp out in the mountains. I'm treating myselft to a vacation and will renew my visa on the way back to Chile for another 90 days. Wheather I will be spending the rest of January working on Isla Fresia or Rukapiwel is still open. I will bring back some of the renouned chocolates from Bariloche for my friends.
My goal in the next days is to do the 5 Lagunas trek from Pampa Linda to the Swiss colony. Afterwards I will see where the road takes me. Stay tuned for a report and photos of this amazing trail and a review of the tourist city Bariloche.
