Hitchhikeing turns out to be much more difficult than I initially thought (probably because it is not yet the high season), so I took a bus to Puerto Varas for 900 pesos. The small town is very nicely maintained and much cleaner than the city of Puerto Montt. The prices here are also higher, this being a tourist hotspot. I was able to get all my gear together and am ready to go trekking now. Checking my email I got a lot of post from my previous insurrance and the military. Apparently they did not quite get the fact that I completely signed off for at least a year and am not alegable for insurrance and am not obliged to servicing any longer.
So one more day in which I have to make calls to Switzerland and fill out forms a second time before I can go on with my plan. Checking with a local trekking guide office I found out that volcano Osorno is still snowed up entirly and it is impossible to climb the summit withour glacier-gear. I'll postpone this trek until early December. Instead I'll head to Osorno and then further along lake Puyehue into the national park there. I found a nice trek passing from Antillanca to Anticura and then onto volcano Puyehue. The route is uploaded to my GPS (Garmin eTrex20). There are buses leaving near the main terminal in direction of Bariloche. The big tourist buses cost almost 10 times what the mini-buses charge so I'll get on one of the small blue ones.
As a warm up and to check my camera I spent half a day walking through Cerro Philippo a small park at the end of town. Access to the park is free and it has a nice compiilation of flora and view to both volcanos (Osorno and Puyehue).
