Pampa Frutilla Trek

Termas Puyehue -(18km)- Anticura -(11km)- Pampa Frutilla -(14km)- Antillanca -(18km)- Aguas Calientes

The Trek to Pampa Frutilla is one of the most beautiful Treks I came across in the Region of Los Lagos, Chile. The path takes you through every terrain typical for Patagonia.

The starting point is in Anticura at the CONAF devision. You can take a bus there from Osorno which drives there once a day at 5pm or you can take the more frequently driven route to the bus station "Termas de Puyehue" in the morning and walk the last 18km to Anticura.

Isla Fresia, Lago Puyehue

Isla Fresia, on the eastern side of Lago Puyehue is a private property soon to become one of the best tourist destinations in the region. The 157km² small island consists of a centuries old native forest, small pampas and pebbled beaches. The terrain is steep and full of typical puyehue flora as well as a wide variety of fauna. You can hike the trails and swimm in the clear (drinkable) water. There is only one house on the western side of the island which is occupied by the owners about three Months of the year and can be rented between January and March.

Cabo Froward Trek - Patagonia, Chile

Still one of the moste remote free treks in South America, the trail to Cabo Froward will soon be corrupted by new coastal road that is currently under construction. I tried the trail myself in late 2015 but had to turn back early because of bad wheather. The first part of he trek leads from Rio San Pedro a small fishing village south of Punta Arenas along the magellane strait to the last occupied Lighthouse on South American mainland called Faro San Isidro. The whole trail follows the coast and is easy to walk.
